Smith, well known for The Revenant, the six-episode series stars the well-known actors Taylor Kitsch, Betty Gilpin, Derek Hinkey, Jai Courtney, Dane DeHaan, Shea Whigham, and Saura Lightfoot-Leon. Would his miniseries be a fitting tribute to a writer known for his successful Western genre experiments?
The adventures of pioneers, outlaws, Native Americans, and Mormons in 19th-century Utah set the stage for American Primeval Myflixer Season 1. With the aid of his illegal militia, Brigham Young intends to turn the Shoshone country into a Mormon domain as the tribe fights to maintain control over it. The Mormon couple, Jacob and Abish Pratt, who are split up following an unexplained attack on their group, are caught in the crossfire.

While bounty hunters are pursuing them, Sara Rowell and her son Devin are hoping to reach Crooks Spring, which is further to the west. Isaac, a loner, is compelled to assist the Rowells and a Native girl who befriends Devin following the enigmatic attack that also targets them.
